History of the Karchmer Room
During the dedication of the museum’s elevator, the elevator was named after Aaron and Gertrude Karchmer, the parents of Don Karchmer of Oklahoma City, who contributed $50,000 to the elevator’s construction. The room where the reception was held was also named in honor of the Karchmer family, today’s Karchmer Room.

Key Rules & Guidelines
- Guests enter through the event doors on the landing.
- Other museum areas are not available during rental unless a Museum Tour is requested.
- Food serving areas must be set up on non-carpeted sections.
- Any damage to museum property will be charged to the documented responsible party.
- Liquor sales are prohibited unless the party holds a city or state liquor license and provides proof for the entire rental.
- Renter must remove all items and place all debris in provided trash receptacles before departing.
- During business hours rentals, the second floor may be closed to the public.
- Rentals on museum-observed holidays are subject to approval and include after-hours fees.
Liquor (BYOB) Option
Rental parties may provide their own liquor free of charge to guests. The fee for this option is $50. If you plan to sell liquor, you must have a liquor license and apply for a city permit (listed as $75). If serving liquor-free to guests, you must provide proof of coverage such as a one-day liquor or host policy, or homeowner’s coverage showing host liquor liability.
